Vivek Baid,
President of Mission for Population Control
Mr.
Vivek Baid is a youth leader with a commitment to social
development. Born in a business family with interests in
Newspapers, Hotels, Trading and Real Estate he saw family elders
balancing business interests with social commitments. His
education at Don Bosco School, Siliguri brought him in close
contact with missionaries spreading the virtues of education and
sound moral foundation. Mr. Vivek Baid holds a Bachelors degree in
Commerce from Shriram College of Commerce , New Delhi.
He serves as General
Manager, Janpath Samachar which is the leading Hindi Daily published from
Siliguri and widely circulated in North Bengal, Sikkim, Bhutan and adjoining
areas of Nepal and Bihar. He is also the Vice - President of Cindrella Hotels
Ltd. which operates a 4 star facilty hotel in Siliguri
Mr. Vivek Baid is associated with many social organizations like DHR India
Support Group, Indo Bhutan Friendship Society & Vidyasagar Sansthan.
His work in a newspaper brought him in close contact with grassroot level
political and social workers. He has extensively toured India and visited Europe
and South East Asia. His belief that problems like poverty, illiteracy,
education, housing, unemployment etc., can only be solved through population
control programmes led to the formation of Mission for Population Control with
many like minded friends.
